The extra height goes into a clerestory rather than into the rooms, so daylight reaches the middle of a plan that gets very little of it in winter. Everything else follows from it, and the parts that appear elaborate are consequences of that single decision rather than additions to it.

What the drawings describe as the Maribor Nest, adapting the type to a taller floor and a colder climate is, on site, simply the shape of the place — which is the point at which a scheme stops being a diagram.
The detail that carries it: the extra height goes into a clerestory rather than into the rooms, so daylight reaches the middle of a plan that gets very little of it in winter. It is repeated throughout, which is what keeps the building consistent rather than merely coherent.
