Working Light

The boardroom sits inland and glazed, so the daylight that reaches it has crossed the floor first and belongs to everybody. It is a small move on the drawings and a large one in use, which is the trade the whole project is built on.

Seen from here the argument is plain: a workplace planned around borrowed light rather than a perimeter of desks, with nothing between the idea and the way the building is put together.

“We set out to make a workplace planned around borrowed light rather than a perimeter of desks, and we resisted every chance to make it more than that.”
