Level Floor
Speakers stand on the same floor as the audience and the screens are hung low, so the hierarchy the format would have imposed never appears. Everything else follows from it, and the parts that appear elaborate are consequences of that single decision rather than additions to it.
The detail that carries it: speakers stand on the same floor as the audience and the screens are hung low, so the hierarchy the format would have imposed never appears. It is repeated throughout, which is what keeps the building consistent rather than merely coherent.
“What we were after was a corporate exchange event staged without a raised platform anywhere in the room — nothing more complicated, and nothing less rigorous.”
